I currently have very little in the way of groceries. I knew that when I came home from work today. I stood up to go buy groceries. I even put my wallet in my pocket. Then I went to let the dogs out before I left, and in so doing I happened to pass my project table downstairs. I saw an unfinished project sitting on the table, and thought while the dogs did their business outside, I’d just sit down and poke at the project a little bit.
So, now here it is ten o’clock. The dogs are upstairs asleep, and I still have no groceries.
I do, however have a functioning hardware-based web server. Which is kind of cool, I guess. Though it means very little to anybody, including me. Maybe I can program it to order me some groceries. Image is clickable.
I guess it’s pretty predictable for me to rave about how beautiful it was.
It was beautiful.
Most noteworthy part of the trip, I suppose, was me finishing the Angels Landing hike. Which was possibly the most physically challenging thing I’ve ever done. About a bazillion feet of insane crazy scrambling in the general direction of straight up. It’s hard to find photographs that accurately depict how crazy that trail is. I think this one does a good job.
Note the lack of horizon in that picture. There is no horizon because the trail points directly toward the Earth. So… you know. Don’t fall.
In the morning I’m catching a flight to Utah where I will spend a week hiking in and around Bryce and Zion national parks, sleeping on the ground, and staring moodily toward the horizon contemplating my place in the world. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for almost a year now, and I am absolutely beside myself with anticitpation. I plan to come back very sore, very tired, and hopefully even more in love with planet Earth.
